Web Service Performance using SOAP Compression
نویسندگان
چکیده
Recent distributed computing applications are developed using different platforms working on different Operating Systems and these applications are running on heterogeneous hardware. SOAP protocol is mainly used for communicating among heterogeneous processes developed in platforms like .Net, Java, Android and so on. SOAP messages are basically XML documents and thus because of use of XML messages for interprocess communication there is a chance that performance of distributed computing applications will suffer. Client’s request and server’s response is sent in SOAP format and the size of SOAP message may be large if it is carrying information from databases. To transport such a large SOAP message more time will be required resulting in increase in response time and decrease in throughput. One solution is to use run time compression technique to compress SOAP message. Our experiments show that response time is reduced by 56% while using compression technique. Caching and SOAP compression techniques in Service Oriented Architecture
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is addressed to integrate the multiple solution environments. The Web-Services plays an important role in this integration process. Performance/Scalability issues have grown to be the one of the peak concerns for the SOA environment. Many IT enterprises and research organizations introduced so many techniques to address these issues. In this paper we try to i...

While Web Services Technology holds great promise for universal integration, several obstacles stand in the way of its acceptance. Work is being done to address these obstacles to allow adoption of web services technology in the future, but where do we stand today? In particular, what can be done today to combat the often cited problem of slow response times for web services? While XML hardware...

since being proposed in May 2000, the SOAP Internet protocol has by now revolutionized application development by connecting graphic user interface desktop applications to powerful Internet servers using the standards of the internet: HTTP and XML. However the fact that it uses a text-based XML encoding unlike the traditional binary protocols, results in higher bandwidth consumption, bigger sto...
